SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Students in the 4th annual Savannah Pre-Apprentice Program spent Thursday morning painting a home on East 35th Street for an elderly homeowner.
The paid, seven-week program aims to provide youth with life skills, mentoring and academic assistance through hands-on work.
"I'm really excited about it because it gives our youth in this community skills for trade," Team 6 Supervisor Wendy Stepherson said.
"It's a good program. We stay out of trouble, making money," 10th grader Tauius Nyers said.
Next week, the group will help Parks and Trees with landscaping in Sylvan Terrace.
