CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

The Coastal Empire Habitat for Humanity broke ground on the 137th Habitat house in Chatham County Thursday night.

With the help from Wells Fargo and Publix, the home will soon belong to the very deserving Johnson family.

The house is being built on Fox Street in the Hudson Hills neighborhood of the city.

Future homeowner Pamela Johnson said she can hardly believe something like this is possible.

“Having my own home for my grandchildren, and, you know, it’s just a blessing from God. That sums it up. I really don’t know. I’m just lost for words. I’m so excited. I’m lost for words. I’m just overjoyed,” Johnson said.

A group of Habitat volunteers will begin framing the walls on the house next week, and the hope is to have it finished by late fall.
