BURTON, SC (WTOC) - The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is searching for 26-year-old Jerome Priester in connection to the shooting of a man at a residence on Wildcat Lane in Burton.
Deputies say they arrived to the scene around 1 p.m. Saturday to find a 25-year-old man with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. The victim was transported by EMS to the Beaufort Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The victim told authorities that he was visiting a friend when the suspect came up to him in the yard. The suspect and victim argued before the suspect pulled out a handgun, firing at least two shots toward the victim. One of the bullets grazed the victim's head, and the suspect - still armed with the handgun - ran away into the woods. Upon arrival, Sheriff's Office personnel were not able to locate him.
After collecting information and speaking with several eyewitnesses, investigators met with a Beaufort County Magistrate and presented the facts. The Magistrate issued warrants for Jerome Priester's arrest for Attempted Murder and Possession of a Weapon in the Commission of a Violent Crime.
Deputies say Priester is still at large, and is considered armed and dangerous. His last known address is in Varnville (Hampton County).
If you come into contact with Priester, call 911 immediately.
