OHIO (WTOC) -

The first day of the Republican National Convention is in the books in Cleveland.

Earlier, anti-Trump delegates caused some chaos on the floor as the convention got underway. Delegates hostile to Trump tried to change convention rules, calling for a roll call designed to demonstrate Anti-Trump sentiment.  It didn't get far and was drowned out in a voice vote by Trump supporters.

We have been keeping up with some of our local delegates who are at the convention. Delegate Jeanne Seaver sent WTOC pictures.  Senator David Perdue spoke to the delegation earlier and Newt Gingrich stopped by Monday night.

Seaver says security is heavy in Cleveland, but says there is a lot of excitement as well.

"I feel a lot more better being here, I was a little concerned from what we were hearing, but we all feel safe and we all feel secure. We are all excited and Mr. Trump is going to be our Republican nominee and the next president of the United States. The vote in that room was unbelievable,” said Seaver.

Donald Trump arrived in Cleveland on Monday as well, but won't be speaking until Thursday night's finale.
