SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The Savannah Youth Ambassadors have been hard at work all summer to clean up the community.
Next month, there will be one final project to celebrate their accomplishments.
WTOC caught up with the 'Back-to-School Grand Slam' organizers on Wednesday. That event will take place on August 6, but before that, ambassadors will host a day of fun in Carver Village and clean up around White Bluff Road next week.
"We want this to kind of like be the pebble that kind of expands their entire life. That they will continue to grow as young people, as great citizens in our community. These are excellent students, excellent young people, and now we want them to be excellent citizens of Savannah," said Advisor of the Savannah Youth Ambassadors, Darlene Jackson.
Again, the Back-to-School Grand Slam will take place on August 6 from 9a.m. to noon at the W.W. Law Center.
There will be a 3-on-3 tournament, music, food and more.
Three-player teams interested in participating should register in-person at 2203 Abercorn St. by August 1.
The cost is $10 per team.
Admission to the event is $5 per person. Instead of cash, attendees may bring items to donate to the featured non-profits including: white washcloths and towels, laundry detergent, body wash and other toiletries, 3-ring binders and other school supplies, and healthy snacks.
