After almost a year from his original indictment for felony murder, Justin Edward Cassell can add three more charges to his rap sheet.
Charges for malice murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during commission of a felony were all added Thursday.
The 24-year-old was involved in a shootout with Valantine Gant on Edgewater Road in June 2015.
Gant later died at Memorial University Medical Center from his wounds, and officials also treated a 3-year-old child who was in Gant’s car with him for minor cuts. Those cuts were believed to be a result of shooting shrapnel.
Drugs were also found in Gant’s car.
Cassell was initially indicted for felony murder back in August 2015.
