A family in Swainsboro found a simple way to thank police officers, firefighters and others who protect them.

Hazel and Joshua Deals children braved the sun and did what they could to get drivers attention. They havent wasted time since they came up with the idea for a lemonade stand.

Theyre selling it for 50 cents a cup but police officers, firefighters, EMTs and military get the lemonade for free as a way to say "thank you", for their service and dedication to the force.

“We started planning this yesterday. We decided we wanted to do sell lemonade and do something to support the cops around us,” said Jasmyne Hodges. “They don't get enough. I figure they do a lot for all of us and we haven't done enough for them.”

“With all the stuff going on, we needed to. I figure the cops need as much support and help as they can get,” said Joshua Deal.

Within minutes, the lemonade stand had customers and law officers later on. The 50 cent price tag hopefully helped them break even for what they gave away. The family just wanted to show their appreciation to all those who protect the community.
