SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Officials at the City of Hinesville's wastewater treatment plant on Fort Stewart and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources are monitoring a "major spill" caused by the storm system Thursday night. Fort Stewart officials are assisting their efforts.

They say more than one and a half million gallons of wastewater spilled into Taylor Creek in Hinesville.

Taylor Creek is on post and not in direct contact with any homes.

The plant has posted advisories and warnings along the creek, mostly for anyone fishing there.
