SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Chatham County kids are getting ready to hit the books and start the school year with some new supplies.

Curtis V. Cooper hosted the 4th annual Back-To-School bash on Saturday morning.

Parents and students lined up at the doors to take advantage of the free on-site health and dental screenings offered by medical staff on-site. This helped students complete the many health exams that need to be done before they to go back to school.

The event also welcomed families with food, cold drinks, and fun activities.

One of the biggest draws was a school supply giveaway. Each student received a bag with classroom items like a folder, notebook, and crayons.

This year was their biggest turnout yet, with supplies set for 300 students. A gift for both the students and those putting on the bash.

“So just to see people come out and take advantage of free opportunities. I like having the availability of different aspects of our community here . And it’s rewarding, you know. It’s giving people a chance to come out and get everything. It’s like a one-stop shop," said Brad Jones, Curtis V. Cooper Business Analyst.
