SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Georgia U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson chose Savannah to deliver big news.
The incumbent picked up a key endorsement Monday from the Georgia Chamber of Commerce.
Sen. Isakson spoke at the Colonial Group. He was joined by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Georgia Chamber of Commerce.
The Republican is on a two-day statewide tour but said Savannah stood out as the perfect place for a pro-business politician to make this announcement.
"People ask me about Georgia, what makes the difference in Georgia and everybody else. Well, the truth of the matter is, the Port of Savannah and Hartsfield International Airport make the difference in Georgia," said Sen. Isakson.
In November, Sen. Isakson will face off against Democrat Jim Barksdale and Libertarian Allen Buckley.
If re-elected, this would be Isakson's third term in the Senate.
