Update (Wednesday, 10 p.m.): Kevin Mitchell saw himself on the news and decided to come in and speak with detectives. SCMPD are no longer seeking his whereabouts.

The Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department is looking for 43-year-old Kevin Mitchell, a man they want to question after a gun discharge incident happened on Wednesday morning at a residence on the 200 block of West 55th Street.

Police responded to the scene around 2:15 a.m. after receiving reports that multiple gunshots were fired into the W. 55th St. home, which was reportedly occupied by five residents, including two children at the time of the incident.

Residents in the community say they aren't used to this sort of thing happening. We spoke with one man in the area who says he's lived there all his life. We also stopped by the home where the shooting took place, but the owner declined an on-camera interview. However, it's not just those who live in the neighborhood who are shocked. It's also those who work in the area.

"I'm kinda shocked really, to be honest with you. We don't have that kind of problem around here. You would think we would, but we don't. Everybody around here is close-knit. Everything is quiet during the day," said David Williams, who works in the community.

Mitchell is described as a black male, standing 6'1" and weighing about 160 lbs.

Anyone with information about this case or Mitchell’s location should contact the SCMPD tip line by dialing 912.525.3124.

Information may also be forwarded to CrimeStoppers at 912234.2020. Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.
