POOLER, GA (WTOC) -

A local Chatham County business said a big thank you to our police, fire department and emergency responders on Wednesday.

America’s Home Place in Pooler presented a check of $500 to Pooler Mayor Mike Lamb for the Pooler Police and Fire Department charitable causes. The business also presented the departments with plaques and art work.

“We just wanted to show our support for the hard work and dedication that the good people that work for the police and fire department do for us every day,” said Steve Cannavaro with America’s Home Place.

“In general, government, public service have a tendency to get beat up a little bit. Anytime the community recognizes us, just with a thank you, we truly appreciate that,” said Chief Wade Simmons with the Pooler Fire Department.

America’s Home Place is also holding a silent auction with numerous items donated by local businesses to raise more money for the police and fire departments. You can check out the silent auction in their showroom in Pooler, until Friday at 1 p.m.
