POOLER, GA (WTOC) -

A check presentation was held Monday for the Wounded Warrior Dog Project.

The Pooler Chamber of Commerce donating $2,500 to the cause that trains therapy dogs to help soldiers and veterans battling PTSD.

U.S. Army Veteran and Project Founder, Stan Perkins, accepted the check- bringing with him the project's newest addition, Hero!

Hero was donated from Greenville, South Carolina, and will be trained as a therapy dog.

"One hundred percent of this donation will go towards the project. We're constantly bringing puppies in. We're placing them in foster homes, even when they're placed in foster homes, we take care of 100 percent of all of their vet care or their food, the housing, anything they need during that time. This will absolutely help us in a great, great way,” said Perkins.
