For nearly 25 years, Dr. Eugene Nwosu has been known as one of the best cardiologists in Savannah. But in a few short months, he’s going back home to expand the Goodness and Mercy Foundation medical clinic in his home village, set up a cardiology practice in the Lagos, Nigeria and train doctors.

He got a helping hand from St. Joseph’s/Candler Health System on Thursday. They packed up $100,000 worth of supplies including anesthesia machines, hospital beds and a whole lot more to help Dr. Nwosu to fulfill his mission. He will be shipping it all to Nigeria.

“Nwosu has been a great partner with our free outreach clinics. Anytime our patients have needed any type of cardiac support, he has been so gracious to lend his support. We are happy to help with this type of medical mission,” said Adam Walker with St.Joseph’s/Candler.

“I didn’t even know the scale of that. I am truly overwhelmed by that and all of the supplies,” said Dr. Nwosu.

To learn more about Dr. Nwosu’s plans for his homeland and to see his special message to his patients and the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry who has supported him throughout the last 25 years, join anchor Dawn Baker for Bounce Around Savannah at 7:30 Monday evening, August 22, on Bounce TV.
