Metro police addressing string of armed robberies in downtown Savannah

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police officers are looking into a string of armed robberies in downtown Savannah happening over the past two nights.

Most recently, around 1 a.m. Thursday morning, a woman was reportedly walking along Habersham at Gaston when she was stopped by a man with a gun, demanding her belongings.

Another incident happening around 8 a.m., when police say a man was approached by three suspects on East Duffy and Drayton.

And Wednesday night, a 15-year-old boy was arrested after robbing two people playing Pokémon Go on Bay Street.

Thursday, we asked Metro police what to do if you're caught in a situation like this.

"Act like you're on a mission. Get to where you need to go. Be aware of your surroundings. Know who is around you. Know that you can be able to describe someone if you need to. You never know,” said Crime Prevention Officer Cpl. Dana Purvis, SCMPD.
