U.S. Coast Guard medevaced man with head injury

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The U.S. Coast Guard airlifted a man Thursday who sustained a head injury 90 miles east of Jacksonville.

A MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from the Coast Guard Air Station Savannah medevaced the 33-year-old man around 6:52 p.m. on Thursday from a vessel, Eagle Texas.

The man sustained a head injury after falling into a cargo hold. The vessel was 300-miles east of Jacksonville and changed course to rendezvous with rescue crews.

He was taken to UF Health Jacksonville hospital.
