RICHMOND HILL, GA (WTOC) -

A man is facing charges after a cell phone was found in the ceiling of a Shell gas station where Interstate 95 and Highway 17 intersect in Richmond Hill.

According to the police report, the family was visiting from out of town. A mom took her two young children to the restroom, but it was after the used the bathroom when they noticed a cell phone with a light in the vent above them.

The police report says the family was visiting from Green Bay. When they noticed the phone, they confronted the gas station attendant who was the only one working at the time.

They say the man then ran to a utility room behind the bathroom and removed the phone. When they asked him to delete the video, he said it wasn't recording and that they didn't need to call the authorities.

That's when they called the police.

Police say while on the scene the suspect was acting nervous and said it wasn't him and that it was someone else who took off running.

When police assessed the situation, they arrested Franklin Williams of Riceboro for obstruction. He is also being charged with criminal attempt to commit invasion of privacy.

That phone was later taken into evidence.

Richmond Hill Police tell me they have now issued warrants for Williams.

Police tell me they have talked to the suspect’s attorney and his client is set to turn himself into the Bryan County jail on Friday.
