BLOOMINGDALE, GA (WTOC) -

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating after three separate crashes involving four vehicles on I-16 EB near exit 152 resulted in multiple injuries, early Saturday morning.

  1. An 18-wheeler truck swerved off the road for an unknown reason and flipped onto its side, leaving part of the vehicle in the right lane of I-16.
  2. A rollback wrecker traveling eastbound on I-16 saw the tractor-trailer partially in the roadway and swerved, which caused a nearby Ford Taurus to rear-end the wrecker.
  3. A separate vehicle clipped the side of the tractor-trailer that was sticking out onto the road.

Officials say the crash happened around 2 a.m. Saturday morning.

Brandon Youmans, 43, and Michelle Youmans, 41, from Townsend, GA were driving a Ford Taurus and were airlifted to the nearby hospital for treatment,. The driver of the tractor-trailer, Jide K. Fredrick-Lloyd, 23, had to be cut out of the truck and taken to Memorial Health.

An 11-year-old and nine-year-old child had to be taken to the hospital. They were riding in the Ford Taurus.

Rickie Lance, 58, and Angela Lance, 46, from Lawrenceville, GA were the driver and passenger in the wrecker. They were not injured.

Both eastbound lanes of I-16 after Exit 152, and before Exit 155 (Pooler Parkway) were shut down for several hours following the crash while officials worked to clear the scene.

Bloomingdale Police, Pooler Police, and GSP deputies all responded to the accident.

Fredrick-Lloyd has been charged with failure to maintain lane.

This is an ongoing GSP investigation.
