FORT STEWART (WTOC) -

Archers and marksmen outside the Army will soon have access to a part of Fort Stewart that's been off limits until now.

Starting Monday, civilians and non-employees will be able to use ranges for small arms, archery, skeet and even paintball shooting.

Directors say it gives locals a place to fire closer to home than Statesboro or Savannah, and it also broadens their customer base and brings new income for soldier programs.

"All the money we take in helps support soldiers programs, programs that support soldiers and their families. So every dollar that people come out here and spend, that money stays right here at Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield,” said Director Mark Germonprez.
