The Chatham County Sheriff's Office opened up its range for a special session on Wednesday night.

Seven Army wives heading out for this hands-on learning experience. Instructors with the Chatham County Sheriff's Office say the women had their own guns but were looking for safety tips and live fire experience from the experts. And they were happy to help.

"They did great! I mean all of the ladies out here did absolutely great. When they were shooting, they obviously some issues here and there and our instructors out here helped correct those issues and they actually did really, really well,” said Cpl. Eddie Bargeron, CCSO.

"I did pretty well. I mean, I hit the target. I think I only missed once so that was good. It gave us confidence and it gave us a lot of knowledge on how to not be scared of our guns and how to shoot them the right way,” said Meghan Benton, wife of Army Ranger.

CCSO normally holds its civilian gun classes on the first Friday and third Saturday of every month. For more information, please click here.
