MCINTOSH CO., GA (WTOC) -

We’re learning a McIntosh County animal shelter may be shut down this month after it was found to have multiple, serious violations.

The Georgia Department of Agriculture sent this letter to the Humane Animal Resource Team on August 3, saying it still had not fixed violations from August of last year.

The department says it's done 13 re-inspections and the violations continue. They include a severe uncontrolled flea infestation, drainage issues and inadequate space for the animals.

WTOC reached out to Hannah DeSoto, of HART, who says all violations have been resolved, except for the drainage issue that they are currently working on.

If HART does not resolve all issues by the next inspection on August 22, the Department of Agriculture may revoke the shelter's license and fine them $1,000 per violation.
