TYBEE ISLAND, GA (WTOC) -

A WTOC update to a story we first broke last month.

On Tuesday, we're learning 15 crew members are expected to head back home Friday after being stuck for nearly four months aboard a cargo ship off the coast of Tybee Island.

In April, federal marshals seized the Newlead Castellano while it was docked in Savannah after creditors sued the ship's owner, saying they were owed $7 million.

During the legal battle, the ship and crew remained anchored in the Atlantic.

It eventually came to an end when the ship was sold at auction for $7.4 million last week.
