SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The next time you head to Savannah for a bite to eat, you could be ordering from a food truck.

Thursday, the Savannah City Council will take a closer look at the "Mobile Food Service" ordinance. It would allow the trucks to operate with a proper license and in an approved location.

The first violation of any zoning, health or safety code provision would result in a $500 fine. The second, $750.

If three violations are found in one year, the city could revoke the license.

Currently, the health department has permitted around 10 trucks to operate in Chatham County, mostly for special events.

Also on the agenda, the possible purchase of camera equipment for the Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Department.

Twenty-five public safety cameras would be installed to monitor activity in 11 identified locations. Thursday’s meeting is at 2 p.m. in the Council Chambers.

We'll keep you updated on the outcomes of these items.
