BULLOCH CO., GA (WTOC) -

Day after day of hot weather this summer has taken its toll on some crops, like peanuts.

In Bulloch County, the plants have seen a little rain and have endured plenty of sunshine and heat.

Most farmers have relied on irrigation to pump water on the plants, where they would normally use it sporadically between rain showers.

“We've been putting anywhere from an inch to two inches on each week on the crops that we can irrigate,” said Hal Crumley.

Georgia's peanut crop translates to about $3 billion of the state's economy.
