SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

To succeed in school, you need all of the right tools.

Tuesday night, some local students are getting help to do their homework.

Seventh and 8th graders at Charles Ellis Montessori received new Chromebook laptops. This thanks to the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System's 1-to-1 Initiative. It aims to assign a device to every student to take home to do their work.

"We're living in a digital world. We want the children of Charles Ellis Montessori to be able to connect globally. We want them to be able to reach out to folks and experts in other places, connect with students in other countries so that they can learn about world culture,” said Instructional Technology Coach Angela LaPlante.

The laptops work alongside Google Classroom, where teachers can post assignments, resources and even lectures for students to access while at school or at home.
