SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Officials with Savannah's Metropolitan Planning Commission invited the public out to the First Presbyterian Church on Washington Drive, giving them a chance to offer their ideas about the improvement considerations for Victory Drive.

The study into the area began two years ago, and since then we've moved to Phase Three which focuses on the stretch of Victory from Bee Road to Skidaway.

Officials say the goal is to ultimately cut down on congestion.

"We're really just wanting people to tell us what do they want Victory Drive to look like and feel like 50 years from now,” said MPC Transportation Planner Jane Love.

"We've seen a lot of commercial development plus traffic and flooding issues, some of those things because of the number of people that's using Victory Drive has definitely increased,” said Curley Green, resident of Savannah.

The next step is for the Planning Commission to come back with recommendations and a final report.

The study will be finished by the end of December.
