GARDEN CITY, GA (WTOC) - If you live in Garden City and would like to learn more about getting improvements done to your home, head to the Cooper Center (corner of Davis and 5th Street) on Tuesday, Aug. 30, at 6 p.m. for a public meeting.
The Housing Team works to revitalize, restore and rejuvenate homes in the city. In June, they received a $306,000 grant to improve at least six homes in the Rossignol Hill Area and Chatham Villa area. The work for each home is determined by need, but the team does anything from painting, carpentry, and electrical work.
"They worked on my home last year, and they revitalized everything around the house, everything," said Eura Burrison, Garden City resident.
Residents will need to apply to be considered for the work. Sharon Bethune, of the Garden City Housing Team, says they will walk through the application process at the meeting.
"We're going to give them all the information at the meeting and explain what this means to them, and how they can not only help with the rehab but also walk them through the process. It's pretty intensive," Bethune explains. "Application is pretty specific, documentation to bring when they file the application, going to give them all the information at the meeting and explain what that means to them. It's pretty intensive."
If you can't make the meeting, or would like to join the Garden City Housing Team, contact Sharon Bethune at 912.228.1905 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
