STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) - A former Statesboro City Councilman will spend more than a year in federal prison.
Gary Lewis pled guilty in April to soliciting a bribe. He is accused of offering his vote on a license variance request to undercover FBI agents.
In court, prosecutors played voicemails they contend were Lewis threatening Mayor Jan Moore and local law enforcement.
Judge Lisa Godbee Wood sentenced Lewis to 15 months in jail to begin in 30 days.
