CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

Two more Red Cross volunteers will head out Tuesday morning to help with the flooding in Louisiana.

Volunteers are giving out food, water and other supplies like insect repellant, cleaning kits and bleach. More than a thousand people still remain in Red Cross shelters in the area.

Almost 3,000 Red Cross volunteers are on scene helping out. They've served over half a million meals and snacks.

Thousands of people have used the shelters and called for help.

Those crews will be on scene for weeks to come.

“So, we haven't had a large scale disaster like this since Super Storm Sandy. We're always prepped and ready to go regardless - day and night - our volunteers and our staff are ready to go and deploy,” said Development Officer Victoria Ten Broeck.

As always, Red Cross can use your monetary donations. They estimate spending $30 million on relief efforts.
