Hubert Middle School students made their favorite teacher a real winner. Today, Wal-Mart named eighth grade teacher Wanda Dixon its Teacher of the Year.
Dixon was chosen out of 100 other nominees in Chatham County. Her students had to write an essay telling judges what was so special about their teacher.
Dixon says it's her close relationship with her students that makes her job so special. "I love my kids and my kids know that I go out of my way," she said. "It's not just about teaching but having relationships with our kids."
Dixon was awarded a plaque and $1,000 check from Wal-Mart.
