As of 10 p.m. Friday, there was more than 49,000 Georgia Power customers without power in Georgia and more than 1,600 individual cases of damage including broken poles and lines.

Damage and outages are primarily concentrated in South and Coastal Georgia.

More than 30 crews from Tennessee came to help. Service Electric Company came from Nashville, Chattanooga, and other parts of the state.

They started repairing outages around 5 p.m. on Friday.

“Once we get in on and past the storm, our crews, our damage assessment teams, get in there, really assess the damage, kind of see what's going on. We'll move in the crews as quickly as possible and get our customers back online,” said Holly Crawford, with Georgia Power.

Georgia Power asks for your patience as they work to fix everything. They have mobilized more than 3,000 personnel to assist in restoring power.
