SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The City of Savannah is waving any extra fees associated with picking storm debris related to Tropical Storm Hermine.

We found sanitation crews in the Coffee Bluff area Tuesday morning, making their rounds from house to house picking up all debris that folks have collected and stored in brown paper yard bags.

"So everything we are picking up is storm debris. We are notating that it's storm debris so we can collectively get it. So no one will have to worry about being charged,” said City of Savannah Sanitation Supervisor Venisha Jones.

City officials say debris not be placed in the street. Large unwieldy piles may not be picked up immediately and will slow down the overall pace of clean-up.
