CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) - The Oatland Island Wildlife Center and the animals that live there are doing very well after Tropical Storm Hermine rolled through.
There were a few trees knocked down, along with the power getting knocked out, and a few of the animals had to be moved indoors.
The director of the wildlife center says they are prepared for tropical weather and that her staff did their jobs flawlessly.
"I think we fared very well. We were very happy with, obviously again we lost some trees as everyone did, but otherwise we fared very well. The staff was wonderful, they pulled together and worked hard to clean the place up so that we'd be able to open the place up Sunday," said Oatland Island Wildlife Center Director Heather Merbes.
When it came to making sure those animals were safe, officials say they did not have to sedate any of them.
