SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The Dwaine and Cynthia Willett Children's Hospital of Savannah had over 70,000 children visits last year.
Hunter Stanfield was one of those kids. Hunter was a young outdoorsman from Glennville, Georgia whose cancer diagnosis took him for the fight of his life.
"We ended up in the ICU because his body started shutting down and failing on us. They put out a call and it seems like every doctor in the hospital comes running. That had to be the scariest moment in my life to know that everything in his body is shutting down, and all you want to do is jump in that bed and hold your child shake him and say don't you dare leave me. You stay here and fight," said Mandy Stanfield.
The 98.7 the River and News Radio 97.7 Cares for Kids Radiothon begins on Thursday and Friday will be Day of Giving at Memorial Health to benefit the children's hospital which is part of the Children's Miracle Network.
