Armstrong State University hosted their 5th annual Farmers Market for students on Wednesday.

The favorite event among students featured fresh produce, pastries, lemonade and even vintage jewelry from about 20 local vendors. Many of these vendors sell their goods at other local farmer's markets across Chatham County.

The goal is to teach students about buying local, so they'll buy local in the future.

"It's great for the students here because a lot of them that do live on campus don't necessarily have cars, so they can't get to the Forsyth Farmers Market or the Wilmington Island Farmers Market. So it's great to be able to bring in these vendors so they can see what Savannah has to offer,” said Fitness and Wellness Coordinator Leigh Fouts.

Armstrong holds two farmers markets a year. One in the fall and one in the spring.
