SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Larry Peterson's just-published book, Deadly Dust The Imperial Sugar Inferno is the first full study of the explosions and fire at the Imperial Sugar Refinery.
These were the largest combustible dust explosions regarding fatalities ever investigated by the U.S. Chemical Safety Board
Peterson is a former columnist and investigative reporter for the Savannah Morning News and he used dozens of first-person interviews, court records and hundreds of government documents to assist him in the writing of this book. Peterson died of cancer in 2014.
There will be a book signing September 10 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. by Peterson's widow, Lanie Lippincott Peterson and Mark Tate, attorney for refinery victims and their families, at E. Shaver, Bookseller, 326 Bull St., Savannah, GA 31401.
