Savannah Man Sentenced for Bank Robbery Spree

A federal court has sentenced a Savannah man to 11 1/2 years in prison for robbing 16 banks across the Southeast. Corey Ray Christie, 25, robbed a South Carolina Bank and Trust in Bluffton in November of 2003. He also robbed the Bank of America in Hilton Head a week later.

Officials say Christie had been released from prison for a 1999 bank robbery in Savannah only two weeks before he began his robbing spree.

He was finally captured in Chattanooga in November 2003 after robbing two banks there.
