SACS is back in Savannah. The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools is checking in on the progress of the Savannah-Chatham school district.
Today, a SACS review team interviewed board members, staff and citizens. The team is doing a six-month evaluation on the district to see how much it has improved since it was put on probation last fall.
District spokesman James Harvey says this is a big test for the board. "They want to see how the board is doing with developing policies, their relationship with the superintendent and many other things."
The SACS review team will take the information from this visit and have a progress report ready in about a month.
