Savannah-Chatham police and the Department of Family and Children Services are investigating a disturbing case on the city's south side.
About 1:30am this morning, state juvenile officers went to a home in the 300 block of Tanglewood Road in Windsor Forest to pick up a 16-year-old girl who was wanted. She ran from the officers, who then called for backup. When police went inside the home, they found three children, ages--7, 4, and 3--who had been left in the care of the wanted teen.
Police say the children were sleeping on the floor and roaches were everywhere. Holes were in the walls and the inside of the house was a shambles and not fit for the children to stay there.
They brought the mother to the house from her workplace and took the children out of the home and to Greenbriar Children's Center.
Police are talking to the mother and still deciding on charges.
The wanted teen is still on the run this morning.
