SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A local Savannah parent is hoping to make positive changes in Georgia schools.

A Gould Elementary parent, Estella Ramos, is one of 16 new members of the Parent Advisory Council for Georgia's school superintendent Richard Woods.

Gould's Assistant Principal nominated Ramos for the position. She says Ramos is very energetic and willing to step up to help the children in our schools.

"I saw something in here that was really good and I wanted to spread it to more people," Latila King, Assistant Principal, Gould Elementary School.

"I desire to bridge the gap between the teachers, the administration, the parents and the student, to further the superintendent's goal of educating the whole child," said Estella Ramos, Member, Parent Advisory Council.

Ramos will serve in the position for two years. She will also be attending the school board meeting on October 5th.
