POW/MIA ceremony held in Savannah at Emmet Park

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A ceremony was held Friday night in Savannah honoring Prisoners of War/Missing in Action.

Friday is national PIO/MIA Remembrance Day. The ceremony was held at the Vietnam Memorial in Emmet Park.

There was a posting of colors, National Anthem performance by the Brass Quintet, taps, wreath laying and twenty-one gun salute.

WTOC's very own Bill Cathcart was the guest speaker and it was sponsored by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 671.

"We have 106 veterans that didn't come back from the State of Georgia. We have 29 now from Chatham County left. It was 30 last year. It's 29 this year,” said VVA Chapter 671 President Joseph Mitchler.
