A fight between two women at Fort Stewart ended with a wife shot and the shooter and a soldier in jail. The soldier and the female shooter face several charges, including attempted murder.
Both face federal charges, which also include burglary and conspiracy. But military investigators aren't saying what started this fight.
According to investigators, Saturday afternoon the woman showed up at the Isenhower Village apartment complex on Fort Stewart and shot the wife. But the wife fought back and cut the shooter several times. The wife called military police, who alerted Hinesville and Liberty County.
Sheriff's deputies found the wounded shooter at the bus station on the outskirts of Hinesville.
"Crime knows no borders," said provost marshal Maj. Tom Byrd. "Through great relationships with these agencies, we were able to detain her within an hour of the incident."
Maj. Byrd says the shooter confessed to investigators and her confession led them to arrest the soldier.
Investigators have not released the names of anyone involved. But the soldier is in military custody, the shooter is in the hands of the FBI and the shooting victim was treated and released.
We hope to know more as this gets into a courtroom.
