Citizens Academy Teaches How City Works

Want to learn a little about the place you live? Students of the City of Savannah Citizen Academy got firsthand knowledge about how the city works.

Residents met with different city and county governmental agencies to learn what each department does before people come to the city with problems or complaints.

"This gets them when they're calmer and says what can we do to make everyone have a different outcome and make people not be cynical," explained city manager Michael Brown. "Get over your cynicism and come and do something and you'd be amazed how much of a difference this can really make."

Residents in the citizens academy will graduate next week.
