EMANUEL CO., GA (WTOC) -

Another shooting investigation is underway in Emanuel County.

Swainsboro Police officers responded to a shots fired report at a home on Booker Street, Tuesday afternoon. They discovered that the home had been forced open, and a 28-year-old woman was inside suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. EMS was called to the scene and transported the victim by ambulance to Emanuel Medical Center. She was later taken by helicopter to a nearby trauma unit.

Police say two children, ages six and 11, were also inside the house. Neither were physically harmed during the incident. Officers closed down the street and roped off the area to preserve evidence.

This incident comes after a shooting at Flat's Lounge early Sunday morning claimed the life of a 20-year-old man. Now, investigators are trying to make any connection between the recent series of shootings. One they have made so far - the victim in the most recent shooting is a cousin to the suspect who was arrested in the first shooting.

The case is under investigation by the Swainsboro Police Department.
