City of Tybee Island upgrades evacuation status to MANDATORY effective as of 3 p.m on Wednesday

Residents, visitors preparing to evacuate Tybee Island

TYBEE ISLAND, GA (WTOC) - According to the City of Tybee website, the city is upgrading to a MANDATORY evacuation for all residents and visitors effective at 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

The City of Tybee Island issued this updated list at 7 p.m. on Wednesday:

  • Mandatory Evacuation in effect until the storm passes
  • Transportation to emergency shelter will be available beginning at noon tomorrow at Tybee City Hall
  • All City Administrative offices closed
  • Police, Fire, EMS will not respond in tropical storm conditions
  • Ga Power will not respond in winds over 20MPH
  • Tybee DPW Yard closed
  • Alley 3 closed to all type boat launches
  • All beaches and waters closed to public for all recreational activities through the weekend
  • Highway 80 will remain open in both directions
  • Atlantic Waste will not be in service
  • Continue to monitor all Tybee media pages for updates
