Hurricane Matthew claims four lives in Georgia

STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) - Hurricane Matthew has claimed the lives of four people in Georgia as it impacted the Coastal Empire and surrounding areas.

Authorities have released the identities of two people killed in Bulloch County during Hurricane Matthew.

Matthew Ward was killed in an accident involving a tree on Buckhalter Road. James Altman was killed when two trees fell on his residence on Clay Road.

Officials say two deaths have also been reported in Chatham County.

One of the deaths occurred on Wilmington Island. The other weather-related death happened on Isle of Hope at a home on Wylly Avenue.

Right now, a death investigation is underway.
