BULLOCH CO., GA (WTOC) -

A Bulloch County woman helped evacuees in Glynn County, then watched as Hurricane Matthew destroyed her own home.

Under a massive pile of oak limbs and trees is a mobile home and a story one woman will never forget.

Ruby Wooden pulled up to see not one, not two but three huge trees on her house. She'd gone to Brunswick to rescue two friends who had no way to evacuate Hurricane Matthew approaching there.

She says she was stopped in Statesboro for an hour and couldn't drive because her windshield wouldn't defog. They pulled up to see the third tree falling and crushing her home.

“Had we gotten here a little sooner we'd been hit and a little sooner it would have fallen on my car also. So I give God the glory,” said Wooden.

Ms. Wooden says the things she lost in her home were things and don't compare to life itself.
