SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - With so many people in the dark and off work Monday, one group of downtown residents decided to pitch in and help the cleanup process.
Several neighbors came together this morning in Savannah's Whitefield Square. Many squares are covered with debris from Hurricane Matthew, and residents are taking it into their own hands to get things back to normal.
"The city's got enough to deal with right now, a lot of damage, so we're trying to pitch in and do as much as we can. We want to free them up to help people that really need it," said Jerry O'Connor.
There will be more cleanups like this as the week goes on. If you're interested, make sure you check out the Downtown Neighborhood Association Facebook page.
