BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) - The South Carolina Department of Insurance, along with several insurance agencies, are in Bluffton answering questions and providing some type of relief to those that may have been affected by Hurricane Matthew.
For those that are filing insurance claims, agents say the best thing you can do to support your claim is to take pictures and keep any documents that would help your claim. Also, one of the biggest mistakes that people are making is waiting until the last minute to file your claim. Insurance agents say that the worst thing you can do.
People coming here to the Insurance Village Expo, they're not just getting their questions answered, they're leaving here with some type of supplies to help them in their relief efforts such as water, trash bags and buckets.
"These companies will be here, like I said it's 25 companies, they'll be here for two days. There will be no run around here at this claims village. If somebody feels they need additional help, you'll call us. Our function is to help the public, that's what we do," said South Carolina Director of Insurance Raymond Farmer.
