City of Savannah resumes trash pick-up, recycling collection remains suspended

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The City of Savannah has resumed the regular Sanitation refuse collection schedule this week.

Recycling collection remains temporarily suspended. Recycling carts may still be used for garbage overflow.

Residents interested in continuing to recycle during this temporary service interruption can drop-off recyclables at any of the locations below:

Bacon Park Transfer Station - 6400 Skidaway Road, Savannah, GA 31406

 Barnes Restaurant - 5320 Waters Ave, Savannah, GA 31405

 Capital Street Fire Station - 2235 Capital St, Savannah, GA 31404

 Coffee Bluff Fire Station - 13710 Coffee Bluff Road, Savannah, GA 31419

 Congregation Agudath Achim - 9 Lee Blvd, Savannah, GA 31405

 Dean Forest Road Landfill - 1327 Dean Forest Road, Savannah, GA 31405

 Hodge Elementary - 975 Clinch St, Savannah, GA 31405

    On Sunday afternoon WTOC ventured to Forsyth Park to see how people were beating the heat.  Despite a heat advisory being in effect until 8 p.m., children were enjoying the splash pad, while others were brave enough to play volleyball.

    The Chatham County police department graduated five recruits on Friday. As a part of their commencement, they are taking part in community projects. The recent graduates took some time on Sunday afternoon to make themselves known to the homeless community.  "We have training with community order and policing," someone said.
